Alan G. Wasserman, MD, MACP, FACC

Dr. Alan Wasserman is the Eugene Meyer Professor of Medicine and the chairman of the Department of Medicine at the George Washington University Medical Center. He is also the chairman of the board of trustees and president of the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates, which comprises the University’s clinical faculty.

Dr. Wasserman is a Master of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. His clinical and research activities have comprised areas of cardiology including cardiac imaging, ischemic heart disease and preventive cardiology. He has been the co-director of one of the largest world-wide symposiums, held for the last 21 years, entitled “Thrombolysis and Interventional Therapy in Acute Myocardial Infarction.”

Dr. Wasserman’s current research interests involve the use of Electron Beam Computerized Tomography for the early diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of patients with coronary artery disease. He has authored numerous journal articles and served as the principal investigator for multiple clinical trials.

Dr. Wasserman is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology. He completed his medical degree at Drexel University, his residency at Abington Memorial Hospital and Fellowship at the George Washington University Medical Center.
