Spencer King, MD

Dr. King is the Fuqua Chair of Inteventional Cardiology at the Fuqua Heart Center of Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta and Clinical Professor of Medicine at Emory University. He is also chairman of the American Board of Internal Medicine’s subspecialty board in inteventional cardiology. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and specialized in internal medicine and cardiology at Emory University. Dr. King was director of the Andreas Gruentzig Cardiovascular Center of Emory from 1986 to July 2000, President of the American College of Cardiology from 1998 to 1999, and President of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions from 1990 to 1991. He is also a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology and the American College of Physicians. Dr. King serves on the editorial boards of several professional journals, including Circulation and The Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and he is an editorial consultant for The New England Journal of Medicine. He has published more than 400 articles, directed numerous symposia, and co-authored or edited seven books including the 2001 edition of Hurst’s The Heart.
